How extensive is a USAF officer background check?
Does anyone know how extensive a USAF officer background check is , and what might disqualify you from receiving clearances like classified, secret, and top secret? I want to join up as an officer, i have a college degree and am looking into going to OCS... If i am lucky , maybe get flight school, and then shoot for Fighter slot. But i am wondering how extensive those background checks are . Are they like CIA back ground checks where they go around talking to your neighbors and people you grow up with , or are they simple records back ground checks. Do they look at your parents country of origin? my parents are immigrants, from Guatemala, and i know this would disqualify me from service in the CIA - dont ask how i know.. i am the first generation here, so i get that I am a flight risk , but i am a citizen and would love the chance to get to serve! Any former airforce personelle or other branch input is greatly appreciated. As far as my personal record, i am relatively clean , with exception of a traffic violation i had when i was 19( didn't see a no left turn sign), and self defense situation that i was involved in a year ago ( .. no charges where ever pressed as i wasn't the aggressor and was just defending my self , and it was me against 3 other guys!!! ) I have also had other background checks, for working in airport facility , POST 911 and working around kids...and no issues where ever brought to my attention..
