Is it ok to have dogs in the house with a newborn baby?

My boyfriend and I have a 3 week old baby together and also live together too. My boyfriend has 2 pit bull dogs. One is 11 years old and the other is 8 months old both are female. The dogs live in the house. My parents keep pressuring to get the dogs out the house because of the baby. I tell them that I would like the dogs outside but they are not my dogs. My boyfriend like dogs in the house. The older dog he has had as a puppy. It is actually his parents dog. They dumped the dog on my boyfriend and wont take it back. His parents fight alot and the older dog is very aggressive. She hates fighting and bites the aggressor when the parents fight. My boyfriend and I was play fighting one day and she bit me. The younger dog we brought as a puppy. But she is constantly getting bullied by the older dog and is becoming aggressive too. I am a animal lover. I just want to know is it safe. The older dog also barks at my baby when she sees him.
