Threatening someone with a knife in North Carolina?

so lets say some one got out of his or her car and was trying to fight me and i get out with a knife and he or she runs and calls the cops would i get in trouble ? if so what could happen and what should i say and do to come out as the victim and not the aggressor? this didn't really happen it is just a scenario ...
