What if a fighter decided to use Lyoto Machida's stradegy against him?

like both fighters just kept running away from each other? the difference being the other fighter purposely doing this when hes normally the aggressor.? how do you think machida would favor against this? has another fighter done this yet? if not, how come you htink its never happened yet?
