Why did this Republican Congressman call the Civil War "The Great War of Yankee Aggression"?

Actually most southern Democrats refer to the civil war by that term. I have no love for the Confederacy and no republican I know has anything but Contempt for slavery. Of course you do know that Republicans formed the NAACP to oppose the KKK organized by Democrats?
